The IDOP format
What the format specifies, which versions exist, and how they relate.
The IDOP format is defined by an open specification published at idoplabs.com/spec/.

Versioning
formatVersion in the manifest states the version a package uses. Minor versions only add: no valid 1.0 package becomes invalid in 1.1, and a 1.0 reader can open a 1.1 package that uses only additive features. A reader refuses a version it does not support with IDOP-UNSUPPORTED-001.
