Changelog

Changes to the format, the reader, IDOP Cloud, templates and tooling, newest first. Something is called available only once it is listed here as such.

Website

A new idoplabs.com

The website is rebuilt as its own project, with pages for the format, IDOP Cloud, developers, research and the company, a documentation section, and this changelog. The specification, its schemas and the format identifiers keep their addresses.

1.1 draft

FormatTooling

IDOP 1.1 draft settled; the reference core validates thumbnails

  • The three open questions in the IDOP 1.1 working draft are resolved: one thumbnail size, removal of a stale thumbnail stays a recommendation, and PNG is the only format.
  • The reference core accepts formatVersion 1.1 with the same media type and Runtime API 1.0, checks _idop/thumbnail.png structurally, and reports problems as warnings (IDOP-THUMB-001, IDOP-THUMB-002) — never as a reason to refuse a package.
  • idop validate and idop inspect print those warnings.

Templates

Forty templates

Sixteen templates were added, bringing the gallery to forty: job search, shared expenses, weekly planner, content calendar, net worth, home maintenance, study planner, packing list, daily journal, debt payoff, notes, timesheet, subscriptions, meal planner, inventory and project timeline. Every template is in English with Polish descriptions, and carries its own icon.

CloudReader

IDOP Cloud installs as an app and works offline

  • IDOP Cloud can be installed as an app. Once loaded, the reader, its core and the sandbox work without a connection; templates are kept after their first use.
  • In Chrome and Edge, the installed app opens .idop and .idopbundle files from the system.
  • On Android, files can be shared to the app.
  • Nothing from account, sharing or authentication routes is ever cached.
1.1 draft

Format

IDOP 1.1 working draft published

The first working draft of IDOP 1.1 defines one additive feature: an optional preview image, _idop/thumbnail.png, for file managers, galleries and share previews — shown without running any of the document’s code.

Reader

Document icons in the reader

The reader shows a document’s own icon (application.icon, part of IDOP 1.0) on its tab, in the inspector, in recent files and in the cloud tree. Icons are displayed only as images, typed from their bytes, and limited to 64 KiB.

TemplatesCloud

A template gallery, in English with translations

The template gallery moved to English, with translations chosen by the reader’s language. Twenty templates were added in one day — among them habits, budget, flashcards, quiz, meeting notes, invoices, objectives and key results, a ticket board, contacts, a travel planner and a sketchpad — each photographed running in the reader for its cover.

1.0

Format

IDOP 1.0 specification

  • The IDOP Format Specification 1.0 is published in English as a Candidate Recommendation: the container and manifest are frozen.
  • The format identifier is an HTTPS URI under idoplabs.com, and credential bindings name no service.
  • JSON Schemas are served at the addresses their $ids declare.
  • Registration templates for the media types are part of the specification.

Cloud

Sign in with Google

IDOP Cloud accounts can be created and used with Google sign-in, completed on cloud.idoplabs.com itself. Account emails are available in English and Polish.

ToolingSecurity

Connector for AI assistants (preview)

An MCP server that lets AI assistants create, read, update and share documents in a user’s IDOP Cloud was built and tested. It signs in with OAuth 2.1, acts only with the user’s own permissions, and validates every document with the reader’s core. It is not yet publicly available.
